day 6

TODAY

i finally write a post about today on today itself.
haha
done playing catch up.

today is a rainy day.
and today is also entrance ceremony day.
soooo

at 11 i'm to be at campus in formal wear and they will tell us what to do.
yes that is right, formal wear.
hahaha. i only brought short sleeve shirt and running shoes.
thankfully, a local guy from my dorm - like a foreign support dude - he lends me his jacket and long pants and tie(i.e. formal wear) to wear to the event.
they say that sport shoe is ok so i ok loh.

when i get there, i realise i'm the only one in sport shoes loh.
haha very funny.
anyway they go through a short briefing of what it will be like. talk abit and then tell us to come back later for the actual event.
wah when we go out the place is teeming with ppl.
it's the regular students entrance too so them and their family and friends all come also. place is packed.

i travelled light today so didn't bring camera or anything.

so we are supposed to gather at 12.30 at somewhere but i forget where and so eventually i broke off from the main group and i end up wandering around alone.

finally i go to the ceremony hall but the exchange students are no where in sight.
so. i wait loh. wait and keep my eyes peeled for any familiar face.
finally i spot the gang(heng)
then i join them and go into the hall.
the plae is HUGE. very grand very kua zhang. it's the same place as when the tour got cancelled.
so it's the usual welcome ceremony stuff. lotsa speeches and lotsa introductions.
the choir and live orchestra was nice though.
and the school song sounds very imperialistic, although i am quite sure that it is the opposite of that in meaning and feeling. lotsa pomp and circumstance trumpets and drums.

so i learn abit more about soka university and its founder's(who is still alive btw) philosophy and history.
quite interesting, but of course i have my disagreements with it and hopefully one of these days maybe can engage ppl about what they think about some of these topics(if the students seriously take those ideas into consideration that is)

on coming back home after that i dun have much left to do, so standard fare yet again.
had dinner with some locals again though. canteen is the best place to meet and talk. i like interacting with them. :)

i also got to dry my shoes.
their wet so i put them outside my room to dry(i hope it works). i also stuff and wrap them in newspaper....if that works....but now it's raining again so the air won't be as dry as it typically and ideally would be. seriously hope my shoes are dry tmr.
dun wan to have wet shoes and cold feet. haha.
ok gonna sleep soon.
